After completing the course's modules, student's will be able to achieve the following objectives:
- Define qualitative research.
- List and describe different situations that merit the use of qualitative methods.
- Compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative research.
- Discuss how analysis is a continuous process throughout a qualitative research study.
- Describe the basic steps to design a qualitative study;
- Formulate good research questions for qualitative studies;
- Understand the relationship between sampling and saturation in qualitative research; and
- Describe quality criteria in qualitative research.
- Compare and contrast different methods of data collection in qualitative research;
- Understand the value of participatory methods; and
- Conduct in-depth interviews and focus group interviews.
- Describe the necessary steps to analyze qualitative data;
- Conduct basic thematic analysis;
- Understand the key elements of qualitative reports; and
- Write a qualitative research report.
